RAMADAN 2023 FUNDRAISER
During this month of fasting, charity, and worship, we are striving to help those in need. Join us this Ramadan 2023 as NubiYouth embarks on another 30 Days of Giving fundraiser! The fundraiser aims to support three initiatives, including raising funds to purchase a transportation shuttle for a hospital in Aswan, Egypt, providing hot meals for low-income families in Egypt, and establishing emergency relief funds for families facing financial difficulties in Aswan.
We invite you to read more about each of these initiatives below and consider making a donation to help us achieve our fundraising goals. Together, we can make a real difference this Ramadan.

This Ramadan 2023, we invite you to join us in our efforts to make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and communities.
Last year, you helped us raise over $10,000 and positively contributed to many families in need. This year, we are aiming to raise $15,000 and continue to make a positive impact on the lives of Nubians in need all across Egypt. We are teaming up with local Nubian organizations to ensure that the funds are distributed effectively and provide on-the-ground support.
We have carefully selected three key initiatives that you can choose to support through your generous donations.
1. Transportation Shuttle for Hospital in Aswan, Egypt - $10K Goal
Firstly, we are raising funds to purchase a transportation shuttle for Nasr al Nouba Hospital Center in Aswan, Egypt. This hospital has been providing free dialysis services to low-income patients in need, but needs assistance with providing these patients with convenient and free transportation. Shabab Al Khair, a Nubian-led organization in the Nasser village volunteering in the Nubian community, will be operating the shuttle service to transport dialysis patients from their remote villages to the hospital center, where they can receive the medical attention they require.

NubiYouth has been partnering with Shabab Al Khair since 2020 to improve the overall health and well-being of the community in Aswan. Many of the villages are located anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours away from the hospital center, making it challenging for patients to access the necessary healthcare services promptly. Furthermore, public transportation can be both time-consuming and expensive. As a result, the transportation shuttle will be a free and timely solution for patients in need of treatment. Nasser village, where the shuttle service will be based, is situated in the heart of Al-Nuba and is a central location accessible to all communities.

The cost of the shuttle bus can vary depending on whether it's new or used, ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 USD. Currently, we aim to raise $10,000 USD towards the shuttle's cost. Shabab Al Nuba will also be working on their end to collect the remaining $5,000+ USD, which will enable the hospital to purchase a used shuttle bus. Although we aspire to raise the full amount for the shuttle, we try to allocate funds equitably towards other initiatives as well.
Nevertheless, it would be fantastic if our community could help us reach the full amount necessary for the shuttle bus. By contributing to this campaign, you can play a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive prompt and affordable medical care, which can significantly enhance their quality of life.
2. Providing Daily Iftaar Meals - $2.5K Goal
With this initiative, our goal is to provide daily hot iftaar meals throughout the entire month to those who are struggling to make ends meet, as well as to individuals who are currently hospitalized or residing in orphanages in parts of Cairo and Aswan, Egypt. Your donations to this initiative will immediately be used to distribute hot meals throughout the month of Ramadan.

We understand that for many low-income families, the month of Ramadan can be particularly challenging, as they may not have access to enough food or resources to break their fast each day. By providing these hot meals, we hope to alleviate some of the stress and hardship that they may be facing, and to ensure that they are able to focus on their spiritual practices during this important time.
In addition to supporting low-income families, we are also working to provide meals to individuals who are currently hospitalized or residing in orphanages. For these individuals, the provision of hot meals can make a significant difference in their quality of life, helping to lift their spirits and provide them with the nourishment they need to stay healthy. Your contribution will help fill the stomachs of those who are struggling, and ensure that they are able to observe the holy month with dignity and respect. Thank you for your support!
3. Emergency Relief Fund for Families facing Financial Difficulties - $2.5K Goal
Lastly, our emergency relief fund aims to assist five families in Aswan who are currently facing financial hardship. Two of our board members, Yusra and Rania, visited Aswan in January 2023 to assess the situation and visit the homes of some of the families who are in need of help. The money raised for this initiative will be used to cover the costs of home repairs, food, and essentials for these families.

Home #1: A single Nubian mother and her three children live in this household. Due to record-high levels of rain in Aswan over the last few years, their home has flooded and been severely damaged. She has had to take out loans to keep up with the repairs and is in need of assistance with the costs.
Home #2: A Nubian man who has been left paralyzed due to a surgery he underwent is in need of financial assistance to cover the costs of food, pain medication, and other minor medical needs. While his neighborhood community cares for his daily needs, we want to help ease their burden.
Home #3: In this home lives another single Nubian mother of three children affected by the flooding in Aswan. She is also currently caring for her mother, aunt, and uncle, while still grieving the loss of one of her children. Our donations during Ramadan will help her pay for food and hygiene essentials.
Home #4: A Nubian couple and their five children reside in this household. Their home has also been damaged by the floods in Aswan, with the roof collapsing and numerous gaps and holes that allow water to enter their home every time it rains. The father works in construction to support the family and is often away from home for days at a time to keep up with the cost of the necessary repairs.
Home #5: This single mother of five children had to move her family to an apartment in Aswan after their house was severely damaged by the floods. Her eldest son, who was the provider for the family passed away, leaving them with no source of income. The local masjid has been assisting with their rent payments, but we'd like to raise funds to help with those expenses along with covering food and essentials.

"The Prophet (ﷺ) was the most generous of all the people, and he used to become more generous in Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to meet him every night during Ramadan to revise the Qur'an with him. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then used to be more generous than the fast wind."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 3554).
